Runner-up result for Taddy in Denver

Runner-up	result for Taddy	in Denver

Four-time and defending AMA Endurocross champion Taddy Blazusiak has closed to
within three points of current championship leader Mike Brown following a runner-up
result at round four of the series held in Denver, CO. Looking for his second consecutive
win following his victory at round three of the series, Blazusiak instead came close to
knocking himself out in his heat race before eventually securing second in the main
event.
Quickly getting to grips with the Denver track, Taddy’s qualifying heat went anything but
to plan. A simple front-end wash-out resulted in the KTM racer hitting his head on the
ground, which notably de-tuned the four-time Endurocross champion and forced him to
compete in the night’s LCQ race. Thankfully, Taddy made it into the main event without
further problems.

Expecting a tough race Taddy gated third, but dropped behind Brown during the opening
lap. Remaining in fourth for several laps he made sure he didn’t make any mistakes and
eventually got around Brown. With early race leader Colton Haaker dropping from first
to fifth, Taddy spent the closing lap of the race trying to catch leader Cody Webb. With
time running out Taddy placed second behind Webb, with Taylor Robert rounding out
the podium.

Round five of the US Endurocross series takes place in Everett, WA, on October 26.
Taddy Blazusiak: “It was a pretty tough night for me. To eventually get the runner-up
result is great considering how things started out. After a good practice I hit my head
hard at the start of my qualifying race – I guess I was lucky things went well in my LCQ. I
ran wide at the start of the qualifying heat and my front wheel washed out. Before I
knew it I was on the ground and I hit my head hard. I finished the race but I wasn’t
completely with it. But I made it into the final, which was the most important thing.
“I knew a good start was going to be tough with the gate pick I had. Although I wasn’t
feeling great I still knew that scoring good points was important, so I just tried to ride
smart. I took my time and eventually got ahead of Mike Brown, and then up to second. I
ran out of laps to do anything about Cody up front, who rode a great race. Although I
wasn’t able to get the win I managed to close the gap at the top of the championship to
three points, with three races remaining.”
