Maxxis’ sponsored riders were all over podiums in WORCS and GNCC motorcycle races. Jason Thomas took third place overall at Round 8 of the GNCC, held June 23 in Snowshoe, West Virginia, and Josh Strang took second place for the weekend at WORCS Round 7, held June 23-24 in Central, Utah.
Thomas battled two XC1 Pro riders for his third-place spot, finishing one tenth of a second ahead of the next rider. In addition to his overall podium, Thomas took his first XC2 Pro Lites victory of the year at Round 8. Thomas, who is in second place in points for his class, was impressed by the performance of his Maxxcross EN tires. “Coming in, I wasn’t sure about it in the mud, but in the rocks and roots and the slimy stuff, it worked awesome. The SI hooked up really good in the front with Tire Balls. It was really good; I was really impressed overall,” he said.
FAR Husqvarna’s Andrew Delong was also in the overall top five, with a second-place finish in XC2 Pro Lites. Canadian Bobby Prochnau, of RPM Racing Team, came down to his first GNCC and took seventh overall and fifth in XC1 Pro, while Jesse Robinson took ninth place overall and fourth in XC2 Pro Lites.
On the other side of the country at the WORCS event, Strang took third place in the first moto, and took the early lead in the second moto and held it until the finish. “The race this weekend was good,” said the RPM Racing Team rider. “I chose the Maxxcross SI tires front and rear because I felt they were the best suited to all the conditions that were at this track, dry, wet, sandy and rocky. I was happy with the performance of the tires all weekend.”
Maxxis swept the podium in WORCS’ Women Pro class, with a victory for Kacy Martinez, who rode a smart race with few mistakes. Tatum Sik took second place, while Nicole Madsen grabbed third.
Eric Yorba won WORCS’ Pro 2 Lites class, with Evan Kelly finishing in second place. Kelly is third in points for the class, while Yorba is fourth.
RPM Racing Team took two podium spots in WORCS’ Pro 2 class, with Ivan Ramirez taking second place and Travis Coy in third. Ramirez leads the class in points.
