The Off-Road 411 #21

This weekend's National Enduro is setup in a high school parking lot in Upton, Wyoming

It’s been a couple of weeks since we posted a 411 and for that I apologize! But, to be honest, there wasn’t much to report so I figured instead of making you all waste time reading a bunch of nothing I’d wait until we had some actual news to deliver. With that said, let’s jump right in.

I hinted earlier today that I had some big news and unfortunately it’s not of the good variety. It has been an awfully rough year for FMF/KTM’s Charlie Mullins and it got a bit worse for him this past weekend when he was involved in a mid-air crash with a rider that resulted in an injured left elbow for Mullins. Initial reports were that it has a fracture but an MRI was done to be certain and to check for ligament damage and I don’t know of the results of that at this point. It’s a definite bummer for Charlie, but he’s thankful it’s not anything worse as it was a very violent crash. We’ll keep you all up to date as best we can but at this point it’s definitely questionable whether Mullins will be able to line up for the Snowshoe GNCC next weekend.

Baylor is running the names of supporters who donated money to get him to Wyoming.

Speaking of injured KTM riders, Steward Baylor is back on the bike and I just saw him get back from a practice ride here in Wyoming and he doesn’t appear to be too far off the pace we saw him ride earlier this season. Stew will be racing with a wrist brace on both wrists but I’d say he will still be a podium threat this weekend.

Not to stay on this trend for too long, but Cory Buttrick underwent Surgery on his knee this week and will be out if commission for pretty much the remainder of the 2012 season. This is a tough situation for Cory as his contract is up this year and with KTM seemingly crunching their budget everywhere they can we wouldn’t be surprised if Cory ends up on another color next season.

With the lack of racing here on the east coast news is a bit slow, but with the National Enduro this weekend and Snowshoe next weekend we figure the news will begin to pick up! Thanks for reading and we’ll see you next week!
