A determined Russell Bobbitt fired off the line in a valiant attempt to grab the $100 FMF Holeshot Award, but he got into the first turn too hot, allowing Whibley to sneak past. Bobbitt would go on to finish third, dropping him a few points behind Fahringer for third.
