The Quick ‘n’ Dirty: Adam Bonneur

Hey Adam, how’s it going today?
Hey guys, pretty good, keeping pretty busy!

For those who may not know, tell the world exactly who Adam Bonneur is and what he’s all about.
(laughs) Well, just a country boy from Illinois. Raised on a farm. One sister, married, 2 nephews, 1 neice. 1 girlfriend haha. 2nd year competing in the GNCC’s. Grew up racing OMAs. I have a job during the week, to support the weekends. Long walks on the beach… haha you know the story.

(Laughs) Long walks on the beach, huh? Wrong website. Not sure if Kayleigh would want you on those sites! Now, you did pretty well at the last National Enduro. Tell us what went down.
Well, I had a lonely Saturday to myself! The girlfriend (Ms. Kayleigh Haywood *A.K.A. Woods) usually gets to travel with me to all the races but I took it on alone. Didnt get to pre-enter. So minute 87 was all mine. Lost my rear brakes during the 4th test, so I had to bleed them before the second loop, but I guess a few guys got lost on 2nd & 3rd test and they threw them out, and those were my best sections. So I feel as if I could of finished better, but I had a blast riding that event. Finished 2nd in Open A & 8th Overall. Place is awesome.

Not bad! You had a pretty good ride at Mountain Ridge and were in the running for Top Amateur, how did that race go for you?
Personal best O/A for me! Cooper Bailey, Chris Douglas and myself had a great battle going all day. It came down the last lap, and Coop had a little bad luck, and I made a mistake, Douglas took the lead and I ran out of time. Placed 2nd, 2 seconds down from Chris, and 14th overall. Bummer, but Chris deserved that one, and I’m not handing out anymore!

After that ride, how do you feel coming into Powerline Park?
I’m looking for my first top amateur award still, and I’m hungry for one. Ready regain the Open-A points lead, and get a championship.

Looking back over the rest of the year, how has the 2011 season gone for you?
It’s had its ups & downs. Nothing really impressive. Besides Mountain Ridge. I’ve been looking for those Overalls all year. Had a few wins and podiums. Overall Results are always improving though.

In other words, you’re killing it but want to kill it even more! What are your goals for the rest of 2011?
Open A Championship, & Top Am

Do you have any plans for 2012 yet?
Gameplan: Work, Save Money, Race Dirt Bikes… I’ll be at the GNCC’s again next year. OMA’s as well, they pull a pretty competitive crowd. Hopefully I can put together a few impressive rides these next 4 races to turn some heads!

What do you hope to accomplish over your career?
In the long run, I really like the idea of managing a team of my own. Make a name for myself and let more than just my results talk. I want to build relationships with the right people and help out the next group of talent.

Words to live by:
The future belongs to the people who believe in their dreams.

Who do you want to thank?
Dad & Mom. Kayleigh. Everyone at Fly Racing, Race Tech, Sidi, FMF, Scott, Kenda, G2 Ergonomics, K&N Filters, & Dirt Tricks and of course DigitalOffroad.com.
