In Their Own Words: GNCC Summer Break

“Well not much of a break yet! I’ve still been working pretty hard and I still have one more enduro this weekend. Then it’s a little time off for some relaxation. After that it’s just time to have fun, do some motocross, and hang out with friends on the river. Couple of weeks off then back at it to try and win one GNCC this year.”
Thad Duvall, Am-Pro Yamaha – XC1 Pro

“Well, after the last round I took two weeks off the bike. I’m back riding and training at home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Now I’m headed to Loretta’s for amateur motocross to watch then headed back home to Louisiana to finish getting ready for New York in September. Not too busy till then.”
Morgan Moss, F.A.R. Husqvarna – XC2 Pro Lites

“Working my ass off. Disappointed with my performances, be it just back luck or whatever. I’ve made some changes and my head is down and I’m wide open all Summer. Gonna come in hot after break, turn this show around.”
Chris Bach, American Beta – XC1 Pro

No Summer break for Beta's Chris Bach. He's determine to come back swinging at Unadilla.

“Ever since the Penton I’ve been on lockdown for the most part with school work. I’m in class eight hours a day and with all of the studying, I haven’t had many opportunities to ride. I’ve been hitting some new moto tracks out in Western PA/Eastern Ohio on the weekends which is a nice change of scenery and terrain. I prefer practicing at the track rather than ride in the woods because it teaches more aggression off the start and better bike control. It’s also always fun to see the faces on other riders when a guy with bark-busters and oversized tank can throw a bike sideways. Once mid-August rolls around, I’ll be back to the grind with training, doing things like running and mountain biking in the evening to maintain my cardio level for Unadilla. The second half of the GNCC series can make or break a championship, so it’s important to be prepared just as if it were the opening round in Florida and be confident. It’s nice to have a short break from the intense travel schedule during the summer, but it doesn’t take long before I experience racing withdrawal… I’m already looking forward to New York.”
Ian Pannebakker, Keystone Off-Road Racing – 4-Stroke A Lites

“This year I’m spending my summer break with mostly training and riding. My season hasn’t started off how I’ve hoped, so this summer I’m working really hard to try and be where I feel I can when we return. I’ve also done an FCA Offroad riding camp this summer. I was a “huddle leader” at the camp in Indiana this past weekend and it was a ton of fun. I’ll also be heading to Colorado for what we call our vacation, but it’s really just a week of riding 100 miles a day of really tough trails. Other than that my summer is just like anyone else’s, hot.”
Jordon Milbauer, Obermeyer Yamaha – Womens

“Getting my a$$ kicked by my trainer, Troy Ross.”
Chris Douglas, WMR Off-Road – Open A

“I dunno what I’m doing over the break. Probably not much just hanging out, maybe get out to a couple of races here and there, or maybe none at all.(Laughs)”
Kailub Russell, FMF KTM – XC1 Pro

“This summer I’m just workin’ on finishing up school, racing some national harescrambles, and local motos. But what I’m really excited for is the FCA moto camp in Ohio in a few weeks! Can’t wait!”
LeeAnn Bange, Keystone Off-Road Racing – Womens

“Well, I won’t be taking a break this year. Started a 4 week intense workout to build strength after my broken chest. My trainer, Joel Younkins, has put together a program! Other than that I’ll be racing at anything that’s on AWRCs, C.R.A., and anything else! It’s fair season so I’m gonna be hitting some fair races to get my speed up (laughs) and eat some fat food. I’m really trying to work on getting fat. I heard it gives you energy at the end of the race. Other than that, riding every day and making sure I crush the second half of 2011.”
Jason Thomas, F.A.R. Husqvarna – XC2 Pro Lites
