Our undercover reporter in Florida, Tim Boryk, sent us these photos and race report from FTR Round 7:
The first race of 2010 was greeted with an artic blast. Riders at round seven of the Florida Trail Riders Hare Scrambles series in Brooksville, Fl woke up to a very frigid temperature of 33 degrees. By midday the thermometer, creep up to a manageable 45 degrees.
After a New Year’s Day rainstorm, the track had a full day to absorb the moisture. By Sunday afternoon, the track was in perfect condition. It was a fun course that included wide-open fields, very tight woods, a water crossing, a few sand whoops, and nice little uphill jump.
Charlie Mullins made the trip down from Hickory, NC to see if he could warm things up in the AA class. Wearing white, green, and black Thor gear with a number 5 on his back and 112 AA on his number plate, Charlie wasted little time jumping out front on his crisp sounding 450 Yamaha. Although he took a small spill on lap one in a muddy section on the MX track, his bike and jersey stayed relatively clean for the two-hour event. As the checkered flag flew, out of approximately 100 riders, only one other rider, Andrew Delong, finished on the lead lap with Charlie.
